LOCAL PARISH PASTORAL AND FINANCE COUNCILS
Three will be separate Parish Pastoral Council meeting across our pastoral area in the coming weeks, as we prepare for Lent and easter, and discuss local enhancements to our churches and parishes.
Our parish pastoral and finance councils, who are members of the parish communities, assist in the smooth running of the liturgical and administrative functions of our churches. They meet separately throughout the year, and three members from each parish also will be part of the new St Carlo Acutis Pastoral Area Council whose function is to encourage and arrange liturgical and safeguarding supports. The Finance Council manage and maintain the finances of the individual churches which is vital in maintaining our buildings and paying the usual day to day bills.
I am so grateful to all members who give freely of their time to their own local parish and pastoral are council. If at any time anyone has a suggestion or would like to contact their local members, they can do so locally or via the parish office in Ardfinnan.

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK – 11TH FEBRUARY 2026
Pope Leo XIV has chosen the theme for the 34th World Day of the Sick, which will be celebrated on February 11, 2026: “The compassion of the Samaritan: loving by bearing the pain of the other”.
The World Day of the Sick, established by St. John Paul II in 1992, is a privileged moment of prayer, spiritual closeness, and reflection for the entire Church and for civil society, who are all called to recognise the face of Christ in our sick and vulnerable brothers and sisters.
There will be an opportunity of the Anointing of the Sick after Mass on Thursday in Newcastle.
EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
This takes place in our parishes on:

Everyone is welcome to come and spend some time in quiet prayer and adoration.
