TROCAIRE BOXES 2026
This year, we pray for the people of Karongi, Western
Rwanda who we journey with this Lent. As we
learn more about the challenges they face to
survive, may we stand in solidarity with them
as followers of Jesus.
We especially pray for Uwamahoro, her mother
Verediana, daughter Ineza age 7,
and niece Vanessa age 12 who are
on the Trócaire Box this year. May we open
our hearts to share generously with them
through financial assistance, prayerful support
and playing our part in caring more deeply for
our common home this Lent.
Please remember to take a Trocaire box home with you and thank you for your continued generosity.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR SURVIVORS AND VICTIMS OF ABUSE is observed annually as part of the Church’s commitment to acknowledge the harm caused by abuse, to pray for those who have suffered, and to seek healing, justice and renewal. Prayers will be offered for all who have been hurt in the church at Mass this Friday in Ardfinnan (First Friday of Lent) as in previous years.
PARISH SUPPORT NETWORK
At our recent meeting we explored Lent from its biblical origins. Jesus overcame temptation while fasting in the desert for 40 days and responded, ‘Man cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’. His complete devotion to God’s plan inspires and guides us.
Our Irish ancestors ‘only ate half what they normally would’. Nowadays more than abstaining is involved. It’s a time to repair our relationship with ourselves, with others and with God, a time to be a power for love with God’s help through prayer.
