THOUGHTS FOR THIS SUNDAY WITH ST CARLO ACUTIS
As Jesus gathers with His disciples for the Last Supper, He offers them the greatest gift—His very Body and Blood in the Eucharist. “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.” In this moment, Jesus establishes the Holy Mass, ensuring His presence remains with us forever. Yet, even as He pours out His love, darkness begins to descend. Betrayal is at hand, and the journey to the Cross begins.
Carlo Acutis reflected on the power of the Eucharist when he said, ‘The Eucharist is my highway to heaven.’ Just as Jesus offered Himself at the Last Supper and on the Cross, He continues to offer Himself to us in every Mass. “The Eucharist is not just a symbol but a living encounter with Christ, the same Jesus who suffered, died, and rose again”. Carlo recognized that receiving the Eucharist with faith transforms us, leading us to holiness and preparing us for eternal life.
(From ‘Living Lent with Carlo Acutis’ by Gwen Wiseman.)
