CARLO ACUTIS RELIC
Last Friday, we received news from the Bishop of Assisi, that our shrine in Ardfinnan will receive a First Class Relic to be installed permanently in the parish. This wonderful news came after we were selected to receive this due to the way in which we have allowed Carlo’s story to be shared far and wide, especially with our young people across all our five local schools and beyond.
We will have to make a secure place for the relic to be placed so it can be permanently on display, and it is also an opportunity for us to install a CCTV system, for security of the church and surrounding outside grounds. While there will be a cost for this, it is hoped that the continuing support for donations to our Parish Development Fund and other donations will assist to offset these initial costs.
Fr Michael will be travelling to Rome for Carlo’s canonisation, which takes place next Sunday, 7th September and will be broadcast on RTÉ One.
Fr Michael will then head to Assisi to personally collect the relic.
There will be a MASS OF INSTALLATION of the relic in the shrine on his Feast Day / Anniversary on
Sunday 12th October at 12pm in Ardfinnan.
With this there will be Mass Changes that weekend of 11th / 12th October
Sat 11th 6.30pm in BALLYBACON
Sunday 12th 10.30am in GRANGE
Sunday 12th 12noon in ARDFINNAN
We are truly honoured to be selected to be one of only three churches in Ireland to permanently have a First Class Relic installed, and we look forward to welcoming many people to our village and parish in the years ahead.
