COMBINING OUR PARISH COMMUNITIES
Recently, all four Parish Councils looked at the benefits of combining our resources as under one named parish pastoral unit mainly for the more efficient use of our pastoral resources and training in ministry but also in the management of finance, buildings, and clergy across a large area.
Much of the groundwork has already been implemented here with the main parish office based in Ardfinnan now looking after all parish records, finances, and administration through Orla our secretary. Each church also has its own sacristan, team for readers and extraordinary ministers, altar servers, and safeguarding thanks to the commitment of the parishioners and members of the parish and finance councils. This will remain unchanged with the proposal being discussed.
While amalgamating these parishes the actual church names and parish identities would be unaffected. Each church would keep its own identity as is currently the case, but to have it all under one parish pastoral community would cement stronger the seven churches. There will be further discussions and updates in the coming weeks on this which is just an idea being explored by the councils at this time.
HOSPITAL VISITS
Fr Michael regularly goes to Tipperary University Hospital to visit sick parishioners. While the local hospital chaplains do daily rounds as well, if you or a family member require a visit, please let Fr Michael or the parish office know the ward and room number.
